Hi fellow poets from time to time I will be dropping by with poems. Poems to touch your heart, make you think, make you smile or bring beauty into your life. I will be calling these poems 'Mike's gems'.

THERE IS NO FRIGATE LIKE A BOOK

There is no frigate like a book
To take us lands away,
Nor any coursers like a page
Of prancing poetry.
This traverse may the poorest take
Without oppress of toll;
How frugal is the chariot
That bears a human soul!

ISFPC members Jenny Kalahar and David Allen have been nominated for the Pushcart Prize!

From the Pushcart Prize website:

The Pushcart Prize: Best of the Small Presses series, published every year since 1976, is the most honored literary project in America.

Since 1976, hundreds of presses and thousands of writers of short stories, poetry and essays have been represented in our annual collections. Each year most of the writers and many of the presses are new to the series. Every volume contains an index of past selections, plus lists of outstanding presses with addresses.

David Allen has been nominated for his poem,
"No Ending,"
published with
Spirit Fire Review.

Jenny Kalahar has been nominated for her poem,
"The Neighbor,"
published with
Indiana Voice Journal.

ISFPC already knew Jenny and David were talented poets, and we're glad the rest of the world does now, too! Congrats!
