Submission window open May 1 to September 1
Annual Deadline: submissions must be received by September 1
Any poetic form, any topic!

The contest is open state-wide to public, private, and homeschool students in grades 3-12.

Winners may be invited to read their poems at PSI's September event. See the main PSI Contest page for details on this event.

First place winners in each category may be published in
Ink to Paper (annual publication of Poetry Society of Indiana), on the PSI website https://poetrysocietyofindiana.org, and across PSI's social media platforms.

BASIC Contest Guidelines:
  • Open state-wide to public, private, and homeschool students in grades 3-12
  • Under 16, parent or guardian permission required
  • Original unpublished work only
  • One poem submission per student
  • 30 line limit, any poetic form, any topic
  • No submission fee

​Contest Categories: 
Category 1:  Grades 3 & 4
Category 2:  Grades 5 & 6
Category 3:  Grades 7 & 8
Category 4:  Grades 9 & 10
Category 5:  Grades 11 & 12

All poems and Submission Forms must be submitted to either the online form, or to [email protected] using one of the following: 
  • regular email with Word document (.doc, .docx) attachments
  • a shared Google document 
​if you submit using email, please put "PSI Young Voices Annual Poetry Contest (insert Your Name) " in the email subject line
