PSI's Executive Committee met to discuss our 2017 Fall Rendezvous. Most of your feedback was overwhelmingly positive, and we thank those who submitted suggestions for improvement. As we plan for future conferences (namely Fall Rendezvous and Spring Fling each year), we discussed the most effective use of our funds to meet our overall mission of promoting poetry throughout the state. We propose the following bylaw amendment, which members will vote on at Spring Fling, May 5, 2018.

Current bylaw reads:

Keynote speakers who are not PSI members will be paid $50 and have their room and meals provided. Non-member workshop presenters will receive $25. Members will not be paid for presenting a program.

We will propose we change this so that reimbursement does not include the cost of a room. Officers may offer to share a room with speakers at their own discretion, but this will not be required.

The new bylaw, if approved, would read:

Keynote speakers who are not PSI members will be paid $50 and have their meals and registration provided. Non-member workshop presenters will receive $25. Members will not be paid for presenting a program.

Rationale:
Our last keynote speaker was well-received but cost $200. As we are a non-profit, we want to be careful how we spend our funds. Cutting out the cost of a hotel room will save us an estimated $100, which could cover 4 other speakers, or could be put toward other projects.

Please bring your thoughts to Spring Fling when we discuss the matter. Thanks!
