Ekphrastic poems explore, engage with, and describe a painting, drawing, sculpture, or other form of visual art. 2021 was the first year we've asked our PSI members to submit artwork images to be considered as inspiration for our annual Spring Fling poetry contest. We received 12 entries from our talented members! The winning piece of artwork for the Ekphrastic inspiration for our PSI members is the photograph titled Serenity by Sandra J. Nantais.

2020 Spring Fling was a virtual event due to COVID-19.
202o's Alt-Spring Fling Facebook event featured:
Given concerns about the coronavirus and the closure of our reserved venue, Poetry Society of Indiana wisely decided to cancel our in-person Spring Fling April 25, 2020. However, we met online! As Premier Poet, Sarah E. Morin invited everyone to an online poetry gathering on April 25, from 1:30-3pm. This event was held entirely on Facebook, so there was no chance of catching anything but creative enthusiasm. It wasn't meant to replace Spring Fling, which is a wonderful all-day in-person event that cannot be fully captured online, but it provided us with a shorter, fun way to celebrate poetry until the next time we can gather in person.
The arts and our artistic community have a wonderful power to help us cope with stressful and uncertain times. PSI is so grateful to members like Sarah E. for creating innovative ways for us to come together and lift each other's spirits during COVID-19.

Our "Gemstones of Poetry and History" 2016 Spring Meet is over, but you can see the highlights here!
N.I. POETS hosted a lovely Spring Meet on May 14, 2016, at Fox Island County Park in Fort Wayne. Poets from around the state gathered to elect officers, take workshops, learn about our state's history for Indiana's Bicentennial, and mainly, be inspired by each other's company and art!
